Since 1952, the DAVIES name has mentored and coached people into true CHAMPIONS.

MY STORY:

Hi All!

My name is Chelsea Davies Herlocker. I am originally from New Jersey and currently reside in Charlotte, North Carolina. My path to becoming a college coach is a bit unique and I want to continue to grow the game and share my love for field hockey just as the DAVIES name has done.

The name “DNA Field Hockey LLC” is a bit atypical, but is the exact reason as to how I am currently a college coach. I come from a line of coaches. My grandfather, Jack Davies, was a legendary and hall of fame football coach. He ended up coaching my father in high school. Soon after graduating from college my dad joined him on staff. My mom, Ann Marie Davies, is also in the hall of fame, but for field hockey. In 2018, she won her 600th game for the Madison Dodgers.

Both my parents coached at Madison High School and their practice fields were side-by-side. When I was a week old, I attended my first field hockey game and have not looked back since. Observing my parents’ mentoring and their influence on their student-athletes, I believe coaching is in my DNA.

After graduating from Madison High School (yes, my mom was my high school coach), I attended the University of Richmond. My four year career as a student-athlete was incredible and my love for field hockey and coaching continued to grow. The staff that I had at Richmond pushed me to become a better player and person. In 2014, I graduated from Richmond and in July received a life-time opportunity to coach at my alma mater. Coaching was definitely not my original plan, but it is in my DNA.
